Boost Twitter Engagement with These Algorithm Tips

Boost Twitter Engagement with These Algorithm Tips
A entrepreneur getting engagement on Twitter/X.

It was Sunday morning and I sent a text to my mentor Justin Brooke about twitter engagement. Here it is:

Here was his answer:

Open Sourced Twitter Engagement & My Tips

Did you catch that? My mentor said it's like using a hammer or a screwdriver.

If you are like me you know what a hammer and screwdriver are but you have no idea what he was talking about.

So I asked him what he meant.

Then he sent me a link breaking down the source code which is now open sourced apparently.

Thanks Elon.

He also said, "Go research it."

Here is the link if you want to do your own research but, if you want my quick summary and one bonus tip not mentioned at the link here are my top tips:

Twitter's algorithm source code, was made public by Elon Musk to increase transparency.

  • Adding images and videos boosts engagement.
  • Twitter Blue subscribers see extended reach.
  • Engagement metrics (likes, retweets, replies) significantly impact rankings.
  • Misspellings reduce tweet visibility.
  • Users are categorized into clusters based on content type.
  • Actions like blocks, mutes, and reports negatively affect reach.

What does that mean practically for your engagement?

You should be using your own images, videos, and even GIFs because when you do your post will get more engagement.

Want extended reach Twitter Blue is a must. Get verified.

If you need more engagement you need to provide value. Create things that are likable, re-tweetable, and generate replies.

Take the time to read what you're posting and spell your words correctly.

Pick a niche and get clustered in the right group. Stay on topic. Don't have social media ADHD.

Lastly be respectful, don't fight with people, or try to annoy them. Don't be a troll.

Now on the topic of long form articles versus threaded posts here is what the difference. For hammering away at your authority on a subject you want to go with a long form post/article.

But for lots of engagement you want to grow with the screw driver. Threaded post, after thread post, with good copy writing with lots of value. Screw in the value, give lots of value to your audience.

Now I know what he means.

The One Bonus Tip For Improving Engagement Not Mentioned

Have a good mentor. Having a good mentor is key to building a successful brand with engagement.

You lack guidance. You lack experiences. You need someone to offer you a perspective that will unlock your mind and accelerate your growth.

If you're Neo. If you're the One. You need a Morpheus.

Because you have to navigate challenges, avoid common pitfalls, and leverage opportunities that you might not see on your own.

Experience and Knowledge Transfer

Your mentor will bring you a wealth of experience and knowledge. Experience and knowledge that you need in your social media hero's journey.

You see your mentor has been through the trials and tribulations of building a presence and getting engagement.

They have been thru it and have firsthand knowledge that can save you time and resources, which enables you to focus on strategies that just work.

Networking Opportunities

Good mentors have extensive networks of industry contacts.

By having a mentor, you gain access to these networks, which can open doors to collaborations, partnerships, and other opportunities.

Networking is a critical component of brand building, and a mentor can facilitate introductions that you might not be able to secure on your own.

Accountability and Support

One of the most significant benefits of having a mentor is the accountability they provide. Regular check-ins with your mentor will keep you on track and motivated.

A good mentor will be help you define your realistic goals for your social media and engagement and hold you accountable for meeting them.

Basically the old adage "two are better than one" enables you with a support system that is invaluable, especially when you face setbacks or challenges.

Personalized Feedback

A good mentor will give you opportunity for personalized feedback tailored to your specific situation.

Whether it's refining your brand message, improving your marketing strategies, or enhancing your communication skills, a mentor's feedback can be instrumental in your social media growth.

They can help you see your blind spots and work on areas that need improvement.

Building Confidence

Having someone who believes in your potential and supports your journey can significantly boost your confidence.

A mentor's encouragement and positive reinforcement can help you overcome self-doubt and take bold steps towards achieving your engagement goals.
